The Undergraduate D'Amore-McKim School of Business has an Alumni Coaching Program. It is a new initiative that partners D'Amore-McKim School of Business Alumni with senior students providing the opportunity to connect with and learn from our successful alumni. The program is designed to assist seniors in making the transition from their undergraduate education to starting a full-time career.
By sharing experiences and knowledge, alumni help define and shape a student's future while at the same time enjoying several benefits from being a coach. In addition to being involved in the development of a Northeastern student, it is an opportunity for alumni to form a meaningful relationship, offer guidance, and reconnect with D'Amore-McKim School of Business as they reflect on their own career.
Requirements:
- The program takes place over an eight month period from September to April
- The expected time commitment is one hour per month
- Four or more years of full-time experience is required to participate
- Must be a graduate of Northeastern University's undergraduate business program
Topics for discussion include:
- Coping with the demands of job-hunting and interviewing
- Building successful working relationships with new supervisors
- Helping a student achieve the challenges they set for themselves
Attributes of a Great Coach:
- Knowledgeable and experienced

- Lets the student know when time is limited
- Ask clarifying questions that encourage the student to fully flesh out their thoughts
- Is empathetic, especially when challenging the student to think or behave differently

Matching will be based on industry focus, concentration, location, and/or interests outside of work.
